Nachádza sa tu veľká Vikingská loď Islanďanov postavená islandským staviteľov lodí Gunnarom Marelom Eggertssonom v roku 1996. Sústredil sa na použitie rovnakého materiálu a metód ako Vikingovia . Ale Gunnar neurobil len to, ale vidal sa aj na cestu a plával na lodi do New Yorku v roku 2000 ako súčasť tisícročnej oslavy cesty Leifura Eirikssona do nového sveta. (Ameriky)

Vikingworld is located at the seaside in the town of Reykjanesbær with a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean. .
There is big Viking ship of Icelander built by the Icelandic ship builder Gunnar Marel Eggertsson in 1996 . He concentrated on using the same material and methods as the Vikings did. But Gunnar did not stop at that but took on a journey and sailed it to New York in 2000 as a part of the millennial celebration of Leifur Eiríksson’s journey to the New World. (america)
Múzeum Einara Jónssona , prvého islandského sochára.
V roku 1909 ponúkol všetky svoje diela ako dar islandskému ľudu pod podmienkou ,že mu postavia múzeum .Tento dar najprv nebol prijatý islandským parlamentom do roku 1914 .
Jónsson si zvolil za lokalitu múzea vrch Skolavorduhaed (pusté kopce na okraji mesta - ako to napísal vo svojej autobiografii) .
Múzeum bolo prvou stavbou postavenou na kopci a Jónsson si uvedomoval aké možnosti táto lokalita;najvyššia v meste ponúka .
On sníval o tom ako sa Skolavorduhaed stane politickou a kultúrnou akropolou nezávislého Islandu Múzeum bolo postavené podľa plánu Jónssona , a dá sa povedať ,že budova múzea predstavuje jeho najväčšiu sochu . Budova slúžila ako jeho ateliér ,ako galéria a dokonca aj ako jeho domov.
Jeho sochy sa nachádzajú na veľa miestach po Reykjavíku .

Einar Jónsson museum, of Iceland´s first sculptor.
In 1909, Einar Jónsson offered all of his works as a gift to the Icelandic people on the condition that they will built a museum to him. This gift was not accepted by the Icelandic Parliament until 1914.
Jónsson chose to locate the museum on the top of Skolavorduhaed, "a desolate hill on the outskirts of town," as he puts it in his autobiography. The museum was the first building to be constructed on the top of the hill and Jónsson realized what possibilities this location, the highest in town, offered. He dreamt of Skolavorduhaed becoming the political and cultural Acropolis of an independent Iceland. The museum was built according to a plan by the artist and it may thus be said that the museum building constitutes his biggest sculpture. The building served as his studio, as a gallery and even as his home.

The National Museum of Iceland
The role of the museum is to increase and relay knowledge of Icelandic cultural heritage, from the nations earliest settlement through to the modern day.
It's possible to get dressed up and take photos in period clothing :)

Perlan
V 1990, architekt Ingimundur Sveinsson vytvoril turistickú atrakciu zo skla a kovovej kupoly
na vrchole mestských šiestich zásobníkov teplej vody. Stavba zahŕňa veľký
výstavný priestor, reštauráciu a 360 stupňovú vyhliadku .
Päť zo šiestich hliníkových tankov stále obsahujú mestskú
teplú vodu, s viac než milión galónov (4 milióny litrov) vody v každej z nich.
V piatom poschodí sa nachádza slávna reštaurácia Perlan. Z prízemia fontána
chrlí vodu každých pár minút, simuluje Islandské gejzíry.
Nenechajte si ujsť vonkajšiu sledovaciu platformu s
panoramatickými ďalekohľadmi na každom zo svojich šiestich rohov.
Perlan sa nachádza v Öskjuhlíð; Perlan a Saga múzeum sú
otvorené celoročne.
Perlan
In 1990s, the architect Ingimundur Sveinsson created a
tourist attraction from a glass and metal dome on top of the city’s six hot
water tanks. The structure includes a huge exhibition space, restaurant and a
360-degree viewing platform.
Five of the six aluminum tanks still contain the city’s hot
water, with over 1 million gallons (4 million liters) of water in each
one. On the fifth floor to find the
famous Perlan restaurant. From the ground floor a fountain spouts water every
few minutes, simulating Iceland’s geysers.
Don’t miss the outdoor viewing platform with a panoramic
telescope at each of its six corners.
Perlan is located in Öskjuhlíð; Perlan and the Saga Museum are open
year-round.
